Surat al-Mutaffifin · Defrauding

بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ

1. 1

   وَيْلٌ لِّلْمُطَفِّفِينَ ۝١ayah 1

   Woe to the defrauders.

2. 2

   ٱلَّذِينَ إِذَا ٱكْتَالُوا۟ عَلَى ٱلنَّاسِ يَسْتَوْفُونَ ۝٢ayah 2

   Those who, when they take a measure from people, they take in full.

3. 3

   وَإِذَا كَالُوهُمْ أَو وَّزَنُوهُمْ يُخْسِرُونَ ۝٣ayah 3

   But when they measure or weigh to others, they cheat.

4. 4

   أَلَا يَظُنُّ أُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ أَنَّهُم مَّبْعُوثُونَ ۝٤ayah 4

   Do these not know that they will be resurrected?

5. 5

   لِيَوْمٍ عَظِيمٍ ۝٥ayah 5

   For a Great Day?

6. 6

   يَوْمَ يَقُومُ ٱلنَّاسُ لِرَبِّ ٱلْعَـٰلَمِينَ ۝٦ayah 6

   The Day when mankind will stand before the Lord of the Worlds?

7. 7p. 588

   كَلَّآ إِنَّ كِتَـٰبَ ٱلْفُجَّارِ لَفِى سِجِّينٍ ۝٧ayah 7

   Not at all. The record of the wicked is in Sijjeen.

8. 8

   وَمَآ أَدْرَىٰكَ مَا سِجِّينٌ ۝٨ayah 8

   But how can you know what Sijjeen is?

9. 9

   كِتَـٰبٌ مَّرْقُومٌ ۝٩ayah 9

   A numerical book.

10. 10

    وَيْلٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ لِّلْمُكَذِّبِينَ ۝١٠ayah 10

    Woe on that Day to the deniers.

11. 11

    ٱلَّذِينَ يُكَذِّبُونَ بِيَوْمِ ٱلدِّينِ ۝١١ayah 11

    Those who deny the Day of Reckoning.

12. 12

    وَمَا يُكَذِّبُ بِهِۦٓ إِلَّا كُلُّ مُعْتَدٍ أَثِيمٍ ۝١٢ayah 12

    But none denies it except the sinful aggressor.

13. 13

    إِذَا تُتْلَىٰ عَلَيْهِ ءَايَـٰتُنَا قَالَ أَسَـٰطِيرُ ٱلْأَوَّلِينَ ۝١٣ayah 13

    When Our revelations are recited to him, he says, “Legends of the ancients.”

14. 14

    كَلَّا ۖ بَلْ ۜ رَانَ عَلَىٰ قُلُوبِهِم مَّا كَانُوا۟ يَكْسِبُونَ ۝١٤ayah 14

    Not at all. Their hearts have become corroded by what they used to earn.

15. 15

    كَلَّآ إِنَّهُمْ عَن رَّبِّهِمْ يَوْمَئِذٍ لَّمَحْجُوبُونَ ۝١٥ayah 15

    Not at all. On that Day, they will be screened from their Lord.

16. 16

    ثُمَّ إِنَّهُمْ لَصَالُوا۟ ٱلْجَحِيمِ ۝١٦ayah 16

    Then they will roast in Hell.

17. 17

    ثُمَّ يُقَالُ هَـٰذَا ٱلَّذِى كُنتُم بِهِۦ تُكَذِّبُونَ ۝١٧ayah 17

    Then it will be said, “This is what you used to deny.”

18. 18

    كَلَّآ إِنَّ كِتَـٰبَ ٱلْأَبْرَارِ لَفِى عِلِّيِّينَ ۝١٨ayah 18

    No indeed; the record of the righteous is in Elliyyeen.

19. 19

    وَمَآ أَدْرَىٰكَ مَا عِلِّيُّونَ ۝١٩ayah 19

    But how can you know what Elliyyoon is?

20. 20

    كِتَـٰبٌ مَّرْقُومٌ ۝٢٠ayah 20

    A numerical book.

21. 21

    يَشْهَدُهُ ٱلْمُقَرَّبُونَ ۝٢١ayah 21

    Witnessed by those brought near.

22. 22

    إِنَّ ٱلْأَبْرَارَ لَفِى نَعِيمٍ ۝٢٢ayah 22

    Indeed, the righteous will be amid bliss.

23. 23

    عَلَى ٱلْأَرَآئِكِ يَنظُرُونَ ۝٢٣ayah 23

    On thrones, looking on.

24. 24

    تَعْرِفُ فِى وُجُوهِهِمْ نَضْرَةَ ٱلنَّعِيمِ ۝٢٤ayah 24

    You will recognize on their faces the radiance of bliss.

25. 25

    يُسْقَوْنَ مِن رَّحِيقٍ مَّخْتُومٍ ۝٢٥ayah 25

    They will be given to drink a sealed wine.

26. 26

    خِتَـٰمُهُۥ مِسْكٌ ۚ وَفِى ذَٰلِكَ فَلْيَتَنَافَسِ ٱلْمُتَنَـٰفِسُونَ ۝٢٦ayah 26

    Whose seal is musk—this is what competitors should compete for.

27. 27

    وَمِزَاجُهُۥ مِن تَسْنِيمٍ ۝٢٧ayah 27

    Its mixture is of Tasneem.

28. 28

    عَيْنًا يَشْرَبُ بِهَا ٱلْمُقَرَّبُونَ ۝٢٨ayah 28

    A spring from which those brought near drink.

29. 29

    إِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ أَجْرَمُوا۟ كَانُوا۟ مِنَ ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ يَضْحَكُونَ ۝٢٩ayah 29

    Those who committed crimes used to laugh at those who believed.

30. 30

    وَإِذَا مَرُّوا۟ بِهِمْ يَتَغَامَزُونَ ۝٣٠ayah 30

    And when they passed by them, they would wink at one another.

31. 31

    وَإِذَا ٱنقَلَبُوٓا۟ إِلَىٰٓ أَهْلِهِمُ ٱنقَلَبُوا۟ فَكِهِينَ ۝٣١ayah 31

    And when they went back to their families, they would go back exulting.

32. 32

    وَإِذَا رَأَوْهُمْ قَالُوٓا۟ إِنَّ هَـٰٓؤُلَآءِ لَضَآلُّونَ ۝٣٢ayah 32

    And if they saw them, they would say, “These people are lost.”

33. 33

    وَمَآ أُرْسِلُوا۟ عَلَيْهِمْ حَـٰفِظِينَ ۝٣٣ayah 33

    Yet they were not sent as guardians over them.

34. 34

    فَٱلْيَوْمَ ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ مِنَ ٱلْكُفَّارِ يَضْحَكُونَ ۝٣٤ayah 34

    But on that Day, those who believed will laugh at the unbelievers.

35. 35p. 589

    عَلَى ٱلْأَرَآئِكِ يَنظُرُونَ ۝٣٥ayah 35

    On luxurious furnishings, looking on.

36. 36

    هَلْ ثُوِّبَ ٱلْكُفَّارُ مَا كَانُوا۟ يَفْعَلُونَ ۝٣٦ayah 36

    Have the unbelievers been repaid for what they used to do?
