Effective · Islamic Center of Longmont
In short
Islamic Center of Longmont is a registered 501(c)(3). Gifts are tax-deductible in the United States to the extent the law allows, and our Tax ID is 33-1335330.
Unless you choose otherwise, your gift goes to the general fund: rent, utilities and the day-to-day running of the masjid. If you gave by mistake or gave the wrong amount, tell us within 30 days and we will put it right.
This summary is for orientation. The sections below are the operative text.
Tax status and receipts
Islamic Center of Longmont is a non-profit religious organisation recognised under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. Tax ID (EIN) 33-1335330. Contributions are tax-deductible to the extent permitted by US law.
You receive a receipt from our giving platform at the time of your gift. Under IRS rules we acknowledge single gifts of $250 or more in writing; keep that acknowledgement for your records, as it is what substantiates your deduction. If you need a year-end summary, ask us and we will send one.
No goods or services are provided in return for a donation unless we tell you otherwise in writing at the time. Where something is provided (a fundraising dinner, for example), we will state the deductible portion.
Where your donation goes
Unless you select a specific fund, your gift is unrestricted and goes to the general fund: rent, utilities, maintenance, and the everyday cost of keeping the masjid open. Unrestricted giving is the most useful kind for a masjid, because the bills that arrive every month are not the ones people are most moved to fund.
If you designate your gift for a specific purpose, we honour that designation. If that purpose is fully funded, is abandoned, or turns out not to need the money, we will contact you where we reasonably can and ask whether to return the gift or redirect it. Where we cannot reach you, the board may redirect it to the nearest comparable purpose.
How payments are processed
Donations are taken on ICL’s giving platform at donate.stripe.com, operated by a third-party payment processor. No card details are entered on this website and none are stored on our servers.
The processor deducts its own transaction fee before funds reach ICL. If you would like the whole of your intended gift to reach the masjid, the platform may offer to add the fee at checkout. That choice is yours and is never made for you.
Recurring donations
A monthly gift is never pre-selected for you. If you set one up, you can change or cancel it at any time from the receipt email or the giving platform, or by writing to info@icl-huda.org. We will action a cancellation request within 5 working days, and we will not ask you to justify it.
Refunds and corrections
Mistakes happen: a duplicated click, an extra zero, the wrong fund. If you contact us within 30 days of a gift, we will refund or correct it. Write to info@icl-huda.org with the date and amount.
After 30 days, refunds are at the board’s discretion. The money may already be committed. We will still consider a genuine hardship or an unauthorised transaction, and we will always act on evidence of fraud.
A refunded donation is not tax-deductible; if you have already claimed it, you are responsible for correcting your own return.
Accountability
Donation records are kept for the period US charity and tax law requires. ICL files the returns required of an organisation of its size, and members may ask the board for the organisation’s financial statements.
Where this site shows progress on a campaign, it shows the figures ICL has actually published. We do not display a fundraising total that has not been stated, and we do not infer a dollar amount from a percentage.
Anonymity and recognition
You may give anonymously. We do not publish donor names, amounts or a donor wall without explicit permission, and consenting once is not consent forever. Tell us to stop and we will.
Gifts we may decline
ICL may decline a donation, for example where its source is unclear, where accepting it would breach the law, or where a condition attached to it conflicts with the masjid’s purpose or with Islamic principles. We will say so plainly and return the funds.
Questions before you give
If you want to know how a particular fund is spent, ask before you give rather than after. Write to info@icl-huda.org or call +1 (949) 288-1812.
