Doors open before every prayer. If you are coming as a group, call ahead so someone can meet you.
Before you come
A few customs most masjids share. Nobody expects you to know them all on your first visit.
Dress modestly
Wear clothes that cover your arms and legs. Women usually cover their hair in the prayer hall, so bring a scarf if you have one.
Shoes off
Take your shoes off before you step onto the prayer carpet.
Quiet during prayer
Put your phone on silent. If a prayer has started, wait quietly at the back until it ends.
Greetings
People greet each other with “As-salamu alaykum”, which means peace be upon you. Some people do not shake hands with the opposite sex, so let them offer first.
