Surat an-Naba · The Announcement

بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ

2. 1p. 582

   عَمَّ يَتَسَآءَلُونَ ۝١ayah 1

   What are they asking one another about?

3. 2

   عَنِ ٱلنَّبَإِ ٱلْعَظِيمِ ۝٢ayah 2

   About the Great Event.

4. 3

   ٱلَّذِى هُمْ فِيهِ مُخْتَلِفُونَ ۝٣ayah 3

   About which they disagree.

5. 4

   كَلَّا سَيَعْلَمُونَ ۝٤ayah 4

   Surely, they will find out.

6. 5

   ثُمَّ كَلَّا سَيَعْلَمُونَ ۝٥ayah 5

   Most certainly, they will find out.

7. 6

   أَلَمْ نَجْعَلِ ٱلْأَرْضَ مِهَـٰدًا ۝٦ayah 6

   Did We not make the earth a cradle?

8. 7

   وَٱلْجِبَالَ أَوْتَادًا ۝٧ayah 7

   And the mountains pegs?

9. 8

   وَخَلَقْنَـٰكُمْ أَزْوَٰجًا ۝٨ayah 8

   And created you in pairs?

10. 9

    وَجَعَلْنَا نَوْمَكُمْ سُبَاتًا ۝٩ayah 9

    And made your sleep for rest?

11. 10

    وَجَعَلْنَا ٱلَّيْلَ لِبَاسًا ۝١٠ayah 10

    And made the night a cover?

12. 11

    وَجَعَلْنَا ٱلنَّهَارَ مَعَاشًا ۝١١ayah 11

    And made the day for livelihood?

13. 12

    وَبَنَيْنَا فَوْقَكُمْ سَبْعًا شِدَادًا ۝١٢ayah 12

    And built above you seven strong ones?

14. 13

    وَجَعَلْنَا سِرَاجًا وَهَّاجًا ۝١٣ayah 13

    And placed a blazing lamp?

15. 14

    وَأَنزَلْنَا مِنَ ٱلْمُعْصِرَٰتِ مَآءً ثَجَّاجًا ۝١٤ayah 14

    And brought down from the clouds pouring water?

16. 15

    لِّنُخْرِجَ بِهِۦ حَبًّا وَنَبَاتًا ۝١٥ayah 15

    To produce with it grains and vegetation?

17. 16

    وَجَنَّـٰتٍ أَلْفَافًا ۝١٦ayah 16

    And luxuriant gardens?

18. 17

    إِنَّ يَوْمَ ٱلْفَصْلِ كَانَ مِيقَـٰتًا ۝١٧ayah 17

    The Day of Sorting has been appointed.

19. 18

    يَوْمَ يُنفَخُ فِى ٱلصُّورِ فَتَأْتُونَ أَفْوَاجًا ۝١٨ayah 18

    The Day when the Trumpet is blown, and you will come in droves.

20. 19

    وَفُتِحَتِ ٱلسَّمَآءُ فَكَانَتْ أَبْوَٰبًا ۝١٩ayah 19

    And the sky is opened up, and becomes gateways.

21. 20

    وَسُيِّرَتِ ٱلْجِبَالُ فَكَانَتْ سَرَابًا ۝٢٠ayah 20

    And the mountains are set in motion, and become a mirage.

22. 21

    إِنَّ جَهَنَّمَ كَانَتْ مِرْصَادًا ۝٢١ayah 21

    Hell is lying in ambush.

23. 22

    لِّلطَّـٰغِينَ مَـَٔابًا ۝٢٢ayah 22

    For the oppressors, a destination.

24. 23

    لَّـٰبِثِينَ فِيهَآ أَحْقَابًا ۝٢٣ayah 23

    Where they will remain for eons.

25. 24

    لَّا يَذُوقُونَ فِيهَا بَرْدًا وَلَا شَرَابًا ۝٢٤ayah 24

    They will taste therein neither coolness, nor drink.

26. 25

    إِلَّا حَمِيمًا وَغَسَّاقًا ۝٢٥ayah 25

    Except boiling water, and freezing hail.

27. 26

    جَزَآءً وِفَاقًا ۝٢٦ayah 26

    A fitting requital.

28. 27

    إِنَّهُمْ كَانُوا۟ لَا يَرْجُونَ حِسَابًا ۝٢٧ayah 27

    For they were not anticipating any reckoning.

29. 28

    وَكَذَّبُوا۟ بِـَٔايَـٰتِنَا كِذَّابًا ۝٢٨ayah 28

    And they denied Our signs utterly.

30. 29

    وَكُلَّ شَىْءٍ أَحْصَيْنَـٰهُ كِتَـٰبًا ۝٢٩ayah 29

    But We have enumerated everything in writing.

31. 30

    فَذُوقُوا۟ فَلَن نَّزِيدَكُمْ إِلَّا عَذَابًا ۝٣٠ayah 30

    So taste! We will increase you only in suffering.

32. 31p. 583

    إِنَّ لِلْمُتَّقِينَ مَفَازًا ۝٣١ayah 31

    But for the righteous there is triumph.

33. 32

    حَدَآئِقَ وَأَعْنَـٰبًا ۝٣٢ayah 32

    Gardens and vineyards.

34. 33

    وَكَوَاعِبَ أَتْرَابًا ۝٣٣ayah 33

    And splendid spouses, well matched.

35. 34

    وَكَأْسًا دِهَاقًا ۝٣٤ayah 34

    And delicious drinks.

36. 35

    لَّا يَسْمَعُونَ فِيهَا لَغْوًا وَلَا كِذَّٰبًا ۝٣٥ayah 35

    They will hear therein neither gossip, nor lies.

37. 36

    جَزَآءً مِّن رَّبِّكَ عَطَآءً حِسَابًا ۝٣٦ayah 36

    A reward from your Lord, a fitting gift.

38. 37

    رَّبِّ ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضِ وَمَا بَيْنَهُمَا ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنِ ۖ لَا يَمْلِكُونَ مِنْهُ خِطَابًا ۝٣٧ayah 37

    Lord of the heavens and the earth, and everything between them—The Most Merciful—none can argue with Him.

39. 38

    يَوْمَ يَقُومُ ٱلرُّوحُ وَٱلْمَلَـٰٓئِكَةُ صَفًّا ۖ لَّا يَتَكَلَّمُونَ إِلَّا مَنْ أَذِنَ لَهُ ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنُ وَقَالَ صَوَابًا ۝٣٨ayah 38

    On the Day when the Spirit and the angels stand in row. They will not speak, unless it be one permitted by the Most Merciful, and he will say what is right.

40. 39

    ذَٰلِكَ ٱلْيَوْمُ ٱلْحَقُّ ۖ فَمَن شَآءَ ٱتَّخَذَ إِلَىٰ رَبِّهِۦ مَـَٔابًا ۝٣٩ayah 39

    That is the Day of Reality. So whoever wills, let him take a way back to his Lord.

41. 40

    إِنَّآ أَنذَرْنَـٰكُمْ عَذَابًا قَرِيبًا يَوْمَ يَنظُرُ ٱلْمَرْءُ مَا قَدَّمَتْ يَدَاهُ وَيَقُولُ ٱلْكَافِرُ يَـٰلَيْتَنِى كُنتُ تُرَٰبًۢا ۝٤٠ayah 40

    We have warned you of a near punishment—the Day when a person will observe what his hands have produced, and the faithless will say, “O, I wish I were dust.”
